The Ventia Awards allow us to recognise our people and teams who are at the heart of our success, redefining service excellence, going above and beyond for our clients and communities, demonstrating passion for innovation, creating a lasting legacy for people and the planet, and putting safety and health before all else.

How it works?

This year we have simplified the process from Sector & Group Excellence Awards through to the Ventia Enterprise Awards.

Nomination period is three weeks. Everyone uses the same form.

Ventia Gala Dinner

Enterprise finalists are invited to come together at a gala celebration dinner in March 2024. Overall winners will be announced!

Award categories and criteria

There are five award categories. The criteria for each category is outlined below and includes reasons you would consider someone for this award.

  • This award recognises our people who create a safe and healthy workplace, living up to our brand promise to put safety and health above all else.

    Open to an individual or team (team size is restricted to 10 people). Some of the reasons you would nominate someone for this category is that they:

    • Consistently live up to our #1 brand promise of putting Safety and Health above all else

    • Support a mentally healthy workplace through our Healthy Minds program

    • Promote physical well-being through our Healthy Bodies program.

    • Diligently observe our Critical Risk Protocols

    • Actively seek to enhance others’ understanding and compliance with our Critical Risk Protocols.

    • Drive a culture of safety with our clients and sub-contractors

    • Use metrics and data to drive continuous improvement

    • Actively seek to enhance others’ understanding and compliance with our Critical Risk Protocols

    • Amplify enterprise SHEQ campaigns to achieve cut through and engagement at their local worksite or project

    • May have been recognised externally for safety excellence by others.

    Eligibility criteria
    The initiative, innovation, or approach must have been implemented between November 2022 and November 2023. If nominating a team, team size is restricted to 10 people. Please focus on specific achievements and outcomes.

  • This award celebrates our people who have delivered service excellence to our clients and their customers.

    Open to an individual or team (team size is restricted to 10 people). Some of the reasons you would nominate someone for this category is that they:

    • Successfully cultivate strong and trusted relationships with our clients and customers

    • Collaborate with clients to better understand their specific needs

    • Consistently deliver high-quality service excellence, and exceed our client expectations  

    • Go above and beyond and provides a ‘celebrity service’ experience to our clients and customers

    • Have grown an existing client portfolio through cross-selling and bringing the ‘whole of Ventia’ to solve a client’s need

    • Have a high success rate in renewing contracts with existing clients and / or high success rate in securing contracts with new clients

    • Demonstrate collaborative engagement and growth in cross selling revenue and pipeline beyond their function or sector.

    The initiative, innovation, or approach must have been implemented between November 2022 and November 2023. If nominating a team, team size is restricted to 10 people. Please focus on specific achievements and outcomes.

  • This award celebrates our people who are obsessed with doing things better than we have ever done them before. Their mission – to create better ways, innovate and raise the bar through continuous improvement across process and technology.

    Open to an individual or team (team size is restricted to 10 people). Some of the reasons you would nominate someone for this category is that they:

    • Have worked closely with a client and/ or partner to solve a problem or create an opportunity in a new, innovative way

    • Seek out new technology or utilise data and/or digital to solve client problems and/or develop better solutions

    • Have successfully implemented a new, innovative solution or practice (for the client or other internal team) this year – this can be big or small!

    • Engage in Ven-10’s to collaborate, bring diverse perspectives and fresh ideas to solve problems, develop innovative solutions and drive improvements

    • Seek partnerships and collaborations with external entities, such as startups, research institutions, or industry experts to bring fresh perspectives, expertise and resources to fuel innovation

    • Develop ideas that can be scaled and marketed, for commercial success and/ or widespread impact

    • May have been recognised externally for innovative excellence by others.

  • This award recognises our people who are committed to supporting Ventia in creating a lasting and positive legacy for future generations. This encompasses the social impact we have on our employees and communities, our environmental footprint and the way we conduct our business.

    Open to an individual or team (team size is restricted to 10 people). Some of the reasons you would nominate someone for this category is that they:

    • Seek to make a lasting positive impact and shows excellence in sustainability practices

    • Found ways to support the reduction of Ventia and our client’s environmental footprint across energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, responsible resource use, and efforts to mitigate climate change

    • Promote and champion sustainability across Ventia’s supply chain across sourcing, promoting and using local suppliers, reducing emissions in transportation

    • Drive efforts to educate and raise awareness about sustainability among our employees, customers, stakeholders, or the broader community including training programs, public awareness campaigns, educational events, or resources that promote sustainable practices and behaviour change

    • Have delivered an initiative, innovation or approach to drive positive sustainability outcomes across social outcomes (focused on employee and community)

    • Champion diversity and inclusion in the Ventia workplace

    • Actively support and enable participation of Indigenous Australians, and Māori and Pasifika people in New Zealand.

  • Our people are at the heart of our success. This award recognises a highly valued, passionate and outstanding Ventia team member who goes above and beyond. Open to an individual or team (team size is restricted to 10 people). Some of the reasons you would nominate for this category is that this person:

    • Is a rising star and who is achieving great things as they grow their career

    • Is an emerging leader who goes above and beyond to ensure people are at the heart of what we do and inspires and motivate others

    • Has consistently performed or produced over a significant period, works of superior and distinctive quality, represents the best of Ventia’s values and brand promise

    • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and grow – from acquiring new skills, to expanding knowledge and embracing professional development opportunities, and has applied this learning to improve their work or contribute to Ventia

    • Excels in communication, collaboration and teamwork - fostering a collaborative culture

    • Shines as a Ventia brand ambassador and represents the best of Ventia’s values and brand promise

    • Leans into initiatives outside their day jobs such as active participation in Communities of Practice, Regional SteerCos and other working groups

    • Has received previous awards, accolades, or industry recognition.

SPECIAL AWARD CATEGORY | CEO Award  

The CEO Award celebrates an outstanding Ventia team member. This category is not for general entry, and will be nominated by the Executive Leadership Team. 

What you need to know

  • To nominate an individual or team for an award, you need to complete a nomination form here.

    Tell us how the individual or team meets the award criteria and why they really stand out.

    Please be sure to add supporting material and images as relevant.

    Submit your nomination by 8.00pm AEDT Friday 3 November.

    Sector and Group judging will take place during November, and finalists and winners announced by 8 December. Stay tuned for more information from your Group Executive on how to get involved and celebrate your colleagues.

    Our Sector and Group winners will then be elevated to Ventia (enterprise) Award finalists and invited to the Gala Dinner in early March 2024 where we will announce our overall Ventia Awards winners!

  • Only direct employees can be nominated (including Joint Venture employees).

    Contractors and sub contractors cannot be nominated.

    All indviduals and teams who are nominated will be checked against any disciplinary performance or conduct issues on file

    Each nomination will be assessed based on its merits and against our criteria noted above.

    Eligibility criteria

  • The Award winner or winning team representative will be asked to make a short acceptance speech at the Gala Dinner and Awards night in March 2024.

    Acceptance speeches should be no longer than 2 minutes (250 words).

    Video footage & photography: During the Ventia Awards Gala Dinner, we may shoot video footage and take photographs of the Ventia Awards Gala Dinner which may include video footage and photographs of you as an attendee.  We may make use of such footage and photographs in accordance with the conditions in the talent agreement.

    The Award winner or winning team representative will be required to work with the Brand & Engagement team to promote their success in 2024 and beyond.

    Finalists give consent for their story and any visual assets produced to be used to promote the Ventia Awards and Ventia through internal and external channels.

  • Sector and Group finalists and winners will be recognised via their team town halls, newsletters and Viva Engage (Yammer).

    The Ventia (enterprise) Award finalists will be confirmed in late January. They will be invited to attend the Gala Dinner in March 2024 for the winner announcement.
